This image by Jessica Borutski pretty much sums up my Canadian feelings.
This is so yikesy. Reminder that the US government and Google don't like the free exchange if information. Do we need to bring back the phonebook-style "internet directories"?

Saw someone wearing a shirt that says "my rights don't end where your feelings start" and I was confused. Are you referring to drug prohibition vs personal liberty? The right to body autonomy vs the feelings of pro lifers? The freedom of religion versus the belief that there should be a ten commandments on every courthouse? Nah, I think it was just "I love guns"

@gargron I would love a full series on this, walking through receiving replies, inboxes etc
@gargron this is great, I've been looking for a resource like this
@matejcik first guess: template literals weren't a thing yet?
It's another round of large protest events, so I'm going to do something I've done on :birdsite: in the past. A thread on police less-lethals, how to spot them and how cops use them. This is going to include a lot of imagery of weapons, and descriptions of how they can injure or kill someone.
It's so interesting to me that people would prefer an app over a website on their phone, but prefer a website over an app on a desktop. What's the cause of this?
@masklayer I'm picking up what you're puttin down
I'm watching a weird scifi show from the 60s called Land of the Giants, and basically these people get teleported to a planet where everyone is 12x as tall and the cops chase them around.
The effects are mostly "shoot the big people from below and shoot the regular people from above" and the occasional giant paper machΓ© hand, or a prop is a cheesecloth in one shot and then a giant net in another. It's fantastically cheesy and amusing.
me: wow! that thing is, pretty cool, how did you do it
you: oh, did it on my computer. just normal computer, thats how i did it
me: how on computer??? how did you do that??
you: there's an app specifically, a application for specifically doing that thing, on computer, i got the app and then i did it because thats what it does
me: oh okay, ummm, can i uhh, can--
you: yes anyone can do it. you just have to get computer. then you can do it too. and also the app. app and computer
