This is REALLY important.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment and counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Let that sink in. It costs less than accepting homelessness.

How does reading this make you feel? I’m genuinely interested to hear.
Over recent days, I’ve had several conversations with old and dear friends and colleagues who, like me, have been working for climate action for decades and, like me, have mostly managed to compartmentalise, and keep our emotions neatly separated from our intellectual understanding of what’s going on.
But, over the last week, we’ve all had a new “oh fuck” moment.
We’re in deep deep trouble. We need to reevaluate what we’re doing and how. I’ve been muttering this darkly for a few years. Time to start yelling it from the rooftops.
Politics as usual is a recipe for failure. Which means it’s a recipe for omnicide. We need to shift gears and rapidly live into being new systems of governance, economy and power which can actually help us survive what the old systems have wrought.
