An excellent example of EGA capabilities are the adventure games by Legend Entertainment. This is Gateway, showing off the 640x350 resolution and graphics in the enhanced palette.
Did you know that The Secret of Monkey Island 2 could run on an EGA screen? It used a 640x200 16 color mode and heavy dithering to approximate the 256 color MCGA graphics. It used 200 lines so it was compatible with vintage CGA screens. Imagine what it could have looked like if they had supported EGA's extended 64 color palette...?
