Any Archivists Toolkit users remember an issue where you set up your local MySQL database, install AT, initialize and connect the database, launch AT and log in and it just....doesn't do anything?
Changes are coming to The Patch Bay!
Disappointed about the lack of new content for the past uhhhhhh year? I'm working to fix that. Read more here:

Love to spend all morning prepping a presentation to the university library community that then does not happen because the IT guy "spaced"
@andrewjbtw yeah, I'm eyeing them as well since I already have one droplet with DO, but curious if anyone had experience elsewhere
the recommended OnlyOffice droplet config they have in their marketplace is also.....a tad expensive, so trying to figure out what a reasonable home-use server could scope down to...
So I finally feel ready to start tackling the Great Google Divorce (it will be a long, and, given my preference for Android, possibly fruitless journey, but let's see where it goes)
First up: replacing Drive and Docs. I think I want to go with Nextcloud + OnlyOffice integration: anyone have hosting recommendations??
Hey digipres.club! Follow along with the shared notes for our EaaSI/FCoP workshop today: "Multithreading Software Preservation and Emulation"

@ashley omg also the thing where Drafts inexplicably move the channel/thread you're writing in so they're impossible to find again if you have to navigate away for a second to check something
just spent ~2 hours trying to wrangle ImageMagick or pdfjam to convert and condense about 400 jpegs into one PDF
finally did it in about 5 minutes with gscan2pdf:

sometimes....GUIs are good
@ashley THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS
@ashley wait I'm sorry what is this from because this *is* what @clairefox 's soul is working on
@ashley I completely forgot about that Twitter exchange!!! This is an awesome and thoughtful post as always, Ashley, and I can't wait to test this, I've got a dual-boot Ubuntu/Windows laptop at work now and a regular need to shuttle things to/from a Samba share from either OS....
You and @bitsgalore's "imgr" tool family have got me all inspired to work on my own GUI ideas...
@ashley yes!!!! I recall trying out a few front-ends and never really loving any of them, will be happy to test
I have also been wanting to learn how to do this to make a lightweight QEMU launcher, so I want to hear about what tools you're using...
Any vintage computing and/or emulator enthusiasts out there who have favorite hobbyist sites or resources? I realized this was a crucial missing piece in my emulation-resources repo:

new slide for when people ask us if the legacy operating systems in EaaSI are "secure"
iPRES program is out!

Can't wait for my favorite pre-conference activity, which is planning when to take a break (not going to be easy since our hackathon got accepted!!)
@ashley aaaaahhhhh no one told me these things before I made the travel request ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
