Season's Greetings / Merry Christmas, everyone!
Yesterday was the summer solstice in Australia (in the south, at least). Naturally, it was really cloudy in Melbourne to the point where 2:30 PM looked a lot like 8:30 PM.
Free weekend public transport in Melbourne, even if it's only for a couple of months? Yes please!
NGL, but while I do miss eating at Japanese chain family restaurants like ガスト because of the value you get for what you pay, I've reached the point where if I were to choose between Schnitz and ガスト, I'd go for Schnitz 80% of the time.
There's just something satisfying about biting down on a spicy-crumbed chicken schnitzel with a refreshing coleslaw salad on the side that you just can't get from a 洋食 set meal.
And their fries... I'm trying to cut back, but damnit, they're just that good.
Trying out yet another Linux distro, but this one is more for the lolz.
Once you've figured out some of the finer mechanics for persistent changes, you can literally run Porteux Linux off any media storage on any computer.
Testing out Rhino Linux. It's pretty interesting, to say the least - think of it as a rolling Ubuntu.
It's pretty cool to see how Gumbaynggirr speakers are taking the opportunity to "modernise" their language by breaking down the concept behind modern tech, and creating compound words based on those ideas.
Finally got around to trying out the "La Resistance" burger at, well, The Resistance at Hawthorn (further down from my brother's former shop, which is another story to tell).
Objectively, the burger was good, with the buns tying everything together.
Subjectively, however, it's not as good as the burgers I've had at Burger Shop Hikari in Sasebo City. The fact that this was pretty expensive doesn't help at all.
The fries with the aioli, though? I'd happily go もぐもぐ all day long.

Typical Melbourne...
(I can confirm that the temperature today was on the low side.)
It's been a long time coming, but it's time to pay my dues.
If I hadn't watched the original Power Rangers series as a kid growing up in the Nineties, I would have never gotten into heavy metal during my high school years.
