I'm pretty sure that KONKR was originally envisioned as AYANEO's budget brand, but the drive to cram in the latest and greatest chipsets to meet gamers' increasing demands pretty much just killed off that illusion.

More Linux craziness

I'm giving Porteux another go, especially now that Flatpak support is available. Thanks to that, I can actually run Steam; I was able to download, install, and play "Nice Day For Fishin'" on a system running entirely off a 128 GB USB flash drive.

I'll admit that the documentation for the installation process is a bit over the place, but I surprisingly had a lot of fun figuring things out.

I've got ideas for Round 3 with a proper external SSD.

"Once (SteamOS) launches an official desktop version, it will shine even better."

Sounds a lot like the author wants SteamOS to be more like Windows instead of taking the time to appreciate the already-present desktop mode for what it is.

I'll admit that it is slightly janky, and I'm relying more on AppImages than Flatpaks than I would like, but you can only learn by moving out of your comfort zone.

Not too pleased with how Apple handled the upgrade to iPadOS 26. I had to physically restart my devices in order for the batteries to start charging again.

G1 Transformers - Trailbreaker

It's honestly ironic that the one Autobot whose special ability is his force field would be the one who gets killed off in gruesome ways.

2005 IDW - torn apart by a fanatic Decepticon, with his brain smashed against his own force field, ironically after being persuaded by a reformed Megatron to give up the Energon equivalent of alcoholism.

Energon Universe - partially bisected in an ambush by Megatron, with his spark (soul) devoured.

Don't get me wrong - I love my Steam Deck. It's great for gaming if I don't want to sit behind my desk, and because I actually do know how to do so, I can use it as a desktop replacement if necessary.

That said, with the desktop experience, my Anbernic WIN600 is actually a lot more usable given that I can actually install the Linux distro of my choice (LMDE - Linux Mint Debian Edition) despite just how underpowered it is in comparison.

Burger quest, swearing

Oh, shit, time to wrap things up. I've finally found THE burger to topple Sasebo's Burger Shop Hikari.

The moment the deceptively airy bun sank in on itself to give access to the patty, I knew I was in for a treat. The "secret sauce" didn't do anything special: it simply enhanced both the natural flavours of the Wagyu beef (yes, even if it's Aussie standard) and the seasoning.

All together, it's an exquisite harmony of flavours and textures.

Burger Road in Hawthorn, fyi.

Ongoing burger quest

I decided to give Boy & Co another try after I smashed my knee the last time I was there. This time, I went with their basic Boy JR burger, with lettuce as an extra topping.

I've long accepted that nothing will ever beat out that magical burger I had in Sasebo, but the Boy JR is easily a contender for "the best of the rest", more so if you use the Eat Club app. It's a solid, basic beef burger done right, which is the most important thing.
