My Retroid Pocket Flip 2 arrived in the mail today. It's left a mostly good first impression:
Gaming-wise, thanks to GameHub Lite, I can play my Steam games locally, and I intend to clear out my backlog.
The not-so-good news? I can't log into my Google account, which means I can't use the Play Store. It's a massive shame because given the form factor, there is the potential to use the Flip 2 as a makeshift Android-powered mini computer.
The closest thing to a souvlaki donburi I could find. The kebab rice bowl I had in Chiba was a lot more coherent, but this is actually pretty good in its own right.
Location: Hella Good at Chadstone Shopping Centre
Pretty good first impressions of my new Starlabs Horizon laptop so far. I was actually considering getting one of their more powerful models, but the Horizon won me over with its portability.
Also, props to the courier for delivering it a day ahead of schedule.
So... I definitely wasn't expecting to read about Melbourne Victory becoming partners with my old high school.
Seeing "The Book of Mormon" for the second time. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes made to the script.
Having tried out GameHub Lite on my phone, I am honestly excited by the thought of being able to play Steam games locally on ARM-based devices (Android and Linux).
Not everything is going to run, but a game is a game, and this might actually be a boon for indie game developers specialising in 2d games. It's potentially also a cheaper entryway into legit PC gaming given the rising prices of GPUs and RAM sticks, so I'm definitely not complaining.
Step 1: wake up.
Step 2: work out.
Step 3: drink a protein drink. (Musashi Australia, if you want a brand ambassador who's not an athlete, I'll be waiting.)
Step 4a: dig into overnight protein oats for breakfast.
Step 4b: boot up Linux laptop and sudo [insert distro-specific update command here] to get things up to date, like a boss.
It's been unusually chilly by summer standards lately, but the warm (not hot, thankfully) weather will return this coming week.
I'm pretty sure that KONKR was originally envisioned as AYANEO's budget brand, but the drive to cram in the latest and greatest chipsets to meet gamers' increasing demands pretty much just killed off that illusion.
I'm giving Porteux another go, especially now that Flatpak support is available. Thanks to that, I can actually run Steam; I was able to download, install, and play "Nice Day For Fishin'" on a system running entirely off a 128 GB USB flash drive.
I'll admit that the documentation for the installation process is a bit over the place, but I surprisingly had a lot of fun figuring things out.
I've got ideas for Round 3 with a proper external SSD.

"Once (SteamOS) launches an official desktop version, it will shine even better."
Sounds a lot like the author wants SteamOS to be more like Windows instead of taking the time to appreciate the already-present desktop mode for what it is.
I'll admit that it is slightly janky, and I'm relying more on AppImages than Flatpaks than I would like, but you can only learn by moving out of your comfort zone.
Not too pleased with how Apple handled the upgrade to iPadOS 26. I had to physically restart my devices in order for the batteries to start charging again.
It's honestly ironic that the one Autobot whose special ability is his force field would be the one who gets killed off in gruesome ways.
2005 IDW - torn apart by a fanatic Decepticon, with his brain smashed against his own force field, ironically after being persuaded by a reformed Megatron to give up the Energon equivalent of alcoholism.
Energon Universe - partially bisected in an ambush by Megatron, with his spark (soul) devoured.
Catching up with a high school friend who recently moved back to Melbourne.
