Remember how I used to crave one when I was like eleven :-) somehow they were considered very cool in my school in Hungary, clearly preteen children have a lot of important appointments and contacts to manage... (eventually my mom bought me one from RadioShack while visiting the States, but I don't have it anymore :-))

Anyone else here a fan of #tapedrive ? For me it's by far the cheapest way to store just about anything... I can still find new LTO-3 tapes (400-800 GB) on ebay for under 10 EUR and I only payed 50 EUR for this old HP drive :-) I wrote a few scripts to do regular automated backups of our server that are also logged and reported in emails

It has been my impression, that most people here promote #nextcloud over #owncloud . However, I started out with Owncloud on my amateur private server, and it works very reliably for me and my family, in fact it has proven to be the single most useful application of our home server. I also have Collabora Office running and integrated. Are there any reasons to switch to Nextcloud? They would have to be good ones for me to go into the trouble...

#CoronaWarnApp I wrote this piece back in June just as the corona app was starting in DE. I was very positive about the anonymous set up, no GPS and local storage of contact data. However, I can't help but wonder how much it would help identifying infection clusters, if health authorities had some kind of centralised access to exposure history of people with newly diagnosed COVID-19... it would prevent infections and save lives.
