@mhalligan@hachyderm.io sorry to hear about the mattress problem - I know how annoying that can be :( I'm not sure how much a topper can compensate, though I've only seen 1-3" thick toppers.
Latex is most durable, then memory foam (though it can be hot), then polyurethane foam. If the current mattress is too hard - parts of your body aren't fully supported - consider a 2" or 1" medium or soft https://sleeponlatex.com/products/natural-latex-mattress-topper. Scroll down to ILD or email them. It stacks/mixes well (and can fold to test 2x thickness).
I did this in 2019 and it's still the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on: https://www.washingtonpost.com/home/2024/07/25/how-to-build-your-own-mattress/ (https://archive.ph/Rw1ln)
and if/when the coils weaken or my preferences change, I can replace only the problematic layer in a few minutes.
mine is Arizona Premium Quantum Edge Elite Bolsa coils (https://www.mattresses.net/quedelbo.html), 1" latex toppers for the firmness I wanted (https://sleeponlatex.com/products/natural-latex-mattress-topper), a bit of "egg crate" foam, and a topper/cover (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FYVW3RH/).
ordered funky aftermarket chainrings for my bike: https://www.ebay.com/itm/123706511747
at 90 RPM, the hardest gear will spin out around 32 MPH… which is still about 5 MPH faster than I'd intentionally go on a bike. I'm braking by then, not pedaling.
my current hardest gear is more like 36 MPH. instead of 2 hard gears that I never use, I get 2 more at the low end that I will use.

Kamala Harris/Andrew Camarata 2024
Dems are weakest with non-college educated and/or blue-collar voters, especially rural ones. Camarata will roll into every stump speech on a massive Caterpillar loader: https://youtube.com/watch?v=iS6VJjOcCE4
Sidhu Farms now has boysenberries, the world's tastiest berry. They're at many Seattle farmers markets: https://www.sidhufarms.com/farmers-markets
Schuh Farms (https://schuhfarmswa.com/) hasn't started picking yet. They estimate starting around the end of July.

hat tip to David Hyde (Seattle) for "Left Alone? Absent Strong Leadership, KUOW Slips out of Balance": https://www.postalley.org/2024/05/24/left-alone-absent-strong-leadership-kuow-slips-out-of-balance/
> But the question of balance was met with blank stares followed by some version of, “Why would we need to do that?” It felt like a larger turning point, as the winds started to blow more strongly in favor of more partisan coverage.
I'm replacing a few hard-wired smoke alarms due to age. the online comments are specific and awful. apparently all smoke alarms still suck?
the First Alert 3120B sounds a tiny bit less awful than the Kidde/Firex i4618AC… but the Kidde has a 1.6 out of 5 on their own site, so that's not saying much?
I don't need a 10 year sealed battery, but I do want an alarm that can go many years on an Energizer Ultimate Lithium battery. the battery is only used for the ~2 hours/year when 120V power is out.
drinking 1 of the 5 bottles of Anchor Steam that I had when Anchor Brewing Company went bankrupt.
farewell Anchor Steam, hello summer.
if anyone knows of an obtainable substitute, I'd like to hear it. is there another lager brewed with ale yeast? Altbier? California Common? I came up empty on Reddit. I'm not into #beer, I just miss Anchor Steam in the summer.
A few people have shared how they use epoxy wire metal shelving as outdoor grow shelves:
