One of the best night rides I've had, riding back from Peebles on Sat night. Well below 0c. Water bottles frozen. Crystal clear and moonlit night. Some nice aurora for a few minutes at a time! Didn't meet a single other person on the trails, only some owls and a stoat. #Mountainbiking #frozen #aurora
On Saturday I took the borders railway out, and rode back home. New trails at Glentress are fun! #mountainbiking #glentress
Climbing the big hills. Best bits are the lower down paths through the woods though! #mountainbiking
Tried to follow the River Almond from the mouth. Don't do it! Horrendous "paths". Hacking through bushes, river crossing, fences blocking the way. Ride back through the hills was great though. #pentlands #mountainbiking
Autumn ride. Felt like first day out without rain for weeks! Late start and fun late night ride across the hills on way back.
Heaps of mushrooms around. Including a wood full of huge "Shaggy Parasols"....I think.
Autumn sunshine! Found the Allan Ramsey monument in the middle of nowhere (built to enhance the view from Penicuik house!) and explored Garvald which is an interesting wee village.
Excellent canoe on Loch Ard on Sunday. Interesting loch with islands, hidden coves and "the narrows" river down to some adjoined sections.
Interesting and depressing read. Chimes with the issues I had getting permissions for the Scottish Mountain Bike Orienteering events in the #pentlands. http://carnethy.com/pentland-skyline-race-2023-why-we-have-cancelled/
Internal gear re-cable. Nightmare! Missed the bottom bracket attachment and had to redo it. Nice new bright orange grips as well now though!
