Had an excellent ride in the Galloway forest. Cold foggy start, but it brightened up later on. Saw a quite big newt hanging out on a track road. Some really fun trails through the woods at the end! #mountainbiking
@Dolphinchaz they do look like that! I don't think they have a hole all the way through though. They are more like a stopper of some sort. Was thinking they must come from something disposable...such as vape related cartridges or something?
@futuresprog sorry it the only pic I have just now. I can try and take a closer picture next time I see them. They are small maybe 1-2 cm long.
Anyone know what these things are? See them all over the pavements around town for months. Reverse image search not coming back with anything useful.
No cycling today as I've got cold. But did climb the nearby hill with my daughter. Crazy windy up there! Interesting activity in the harbour where there's a big ship with towers and wind turbine towers ready for the wind farm being built nearby out at sea.
@exlibrarykris Hey, not heard of frost flowers until I looked them up just now. Look amazing. Look like curved thin sheets of ice instead of strands? Would be cool to see.
Loads of hair ice around on a walk today. Never seen it before. Apparently temperature has to be just right and a specific type of fungus has to be in the wood. #winter #hairice
Another lovely foggy weekend ride. Saw almost no one else. Took lots of new paths. A fair bit of pushing over moorland. Stopped in a remote foggy woodland for lunch and listened to an owl hooting. #mountainbiking
@theantlady Thanks. Yes it was cold but lovely to ride through. Dry all day! Hopefully more as the days get longer again.
@DismalManorGang Ha, thanks. Yeah I'm always amazed at the amount of new stuff I find even in my local area. would be cool to see inside the bunker.
Some photos from a misty ride. Nice to to do a proper day long ride. Found an old bunker. Weird old BT phone box on top of the grassy bunker mound with some old mechanical equipment installed in it. Maybe a disguise? #mountainbiking
I don’t often recommend things, but if you like #comedy this short #film by @JozNorris really amused me.

@Dolphinchaz ohhhh...yeah, good idea. I think I'll try that next time!
@Dolphinchaz Yeah they are tasty, thanks! Just a load of garlic and butter. Should get another batch from the same grow in a week or two.
Rode #strathpuffer 24. Snow and Ice made the trail tough at times but the forest was beautiful! Did 11 laps which I'm pretty happy with given the conditions. 2 punctures, one out on a lap so had to run the rest of the lap 😆. Great atmosphere!
Foggy Solstice ride. Was nice out, despite the lack of sunlight. No wind, not much rain. Climbed the big hill. #biking #scotland
@ascentale @ai6yr @bikenite #bikenite Q5 Here's my usual setup. Tent, clothes, food in front bag. Sleeping bag, mat, sometimes stove, some food in back. Tools, handy day stuff, suncream etc in frame bag. Small foldaway rucksack for carrying extras if I need. Handlebar pouch bags for snacks etc.
@ascentale @hyenachow @bikenite #bikenite A3 Yes also a bike with a stuck seat post. Spent ages trying various things to get it out...pipe grips, contraption to pull it. Long hacksaws...nothing worked eventually the post failed (prob due to the various attacks on it) and had to throw the frame out.
