@pete yes, the course is relentless. No parts to rest.on. Weirdly though, the parts I found difficult last year changed this year in the different conditions.
@pete ha yeah I did it last year for the first time too. Was slightly more damp. Was hoping to beat my number of laps. Got close...but no 😆
@jbenjamint oh no. Yeah that doesn't sound fun. Hope it wasn't too serious?
@wav3ydave yeah these are always
hard. But you can always take it more easy and stop for food, sleep and just enjoy it and the great atmosphere rather than full out racing.
@jbenjamint ha..yeah it's tough. Preferred the dry cold to warmer mud conditions on similar races though!
@drdirtbag for this I used a pair of ski gloves on outside and some merino wool inner gloves. Still cold hands at times though. One finger was a bit numb for a few days!
Rode the Strathpuffer 24 hour mountain bike race. Amazing conditions; -12c and lots of snow and ice. 17 hours of darkness. Very difficult cycling but loads of fun. Sunrise was pretty great when it finally arrived. #biking #scotland
@haraldkliems yes, I might give that a go. Did a fair distance on it but mostly not in that top cog.
@haraldkliems yeah, not sure why. I try to change the chain regularly when it stretches which usually makes the cassette last much longer.
Hmmm...wondered why I was having problems. Worn gear and snapped a tooth right off. Only 6 months old as well. (GX sg1275). #biking
Wintery ride yesterday. Should have put my ice tyre on. Still great to be out in the snow though. Very quiet out on the hills. #biking #scotland
Some from the last few days. The first one, the red/purple arc visible in the sky is known as a SAR. It is not part of the true Aurora but is a rare thermal phenomenon seen when Aurora activity is present. Other notable mentions in this picture, from bottom left to centre top, are Sirius, Orion, Jupiter and the Pleiades. The other two are more Aurora shots from previous nights. It is always interesting to see the different colours that the Aurora can produce #Aberdeenshire #Scotland #SAR #Aurora
Went out for a bike ride. Into a crazy head wind. Which of course stopped the moment it would finally have been behind me. Then very wet, misty and dark for the return. Only took one photo. Weird to know I should have been able to see city sometimes, but completely dark. Not even a glow. #biking
Rode right around Edinburgh and out into the hills yesterday. Broke my bottom bracket near start and went back to swap bikes. Then forgot to swap and take a rear light 😐. Excellent evening and sunset riding though. #biking #scotland
@jonny Yes! Incredible!!
Here's a video from the paper.. Ants rock!

I believe that children are our future....Unless we stop them now. #adventcalendar #lego
@etp yep. Seems to be a few similar incidents recently.
Be careful out there. Several people injured apparently. https://road.cc/content/news/cyclists-report-ninja-spikes-strewn-edinburgh-bike-lane-311757
