Verstappen takes French GP after classic duel with Hamilton
Max Verstappen ended Lewis Hamilton's dominance at the Circuit Paul Ricard to take the French GP. The win puts the Red Bull driver in strong position in the drivers' championship with races on home territory upcoming.

Max Verstappen takes pole position!
The Dutchman has beaten title rival Lewis Hamilton thanks to his time of 1:29.990.
Hamilton made a succesfull late dive for a front-row spot, with Mercedes Valtteri Bottas coming in third.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was a whopping 0.747 seconds faster than anyone else in final practice at the French Grand Prix.
The Dutchman, who leads Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton by four points in the championship, headed Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas with Hamilton down in fifth place.
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz was third fastest ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.
McLaren’s Lando Norris was sixth ahead of the Alpines of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon.

For the second time in his life, and the first since joining Red Bull, Sergio Perez wins the Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin comes second. That's his best finish since coming second at the Mexican Grand Prix in October 2019 when at Ferrari.
Pierre Gasly third in the Alpha Tauri.

With Verstappen and Perez having jumped early leader Hamilton in the pit stops, Verstappen's retirement then promoted Perez and Hamilton into P1 and P2.
As for Vettel, the German has played the race beautifully, starting on softs from P11 and staying out until Lap 18.
The Aston Martin driver was up to P6 when the race restarted after the Lance Stroll-induced Safety Car, with Vettel then moving passed polesitter Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly

Leclerc set his fastest time with the help of a slipstream from Hamilton, and a red flag on the final runs secured his second successive pole.
Hamilton recovered superbly after a difficult weekend for Mercedes while Verstappen will be ruing his luck.
The session had four red flags after a series of crashes on the Baku track.

FP3 - Alpha Tauri’s Pierre Gasly set the pace from Verstappen’s team-mate Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton, whose lap time was flattered by a huge tow on the straight.
Mercedes estimated his slipstream was worth 0.6secs, which means Hamilton’s true pace was ninth fastest.

Lewis Hamilton was only 11th fastest as Mercedes struggled in second practice at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Hamilton was a second off the pace-setting time of Red Bull's Sergio Perez as both he and team-mate Valtteri Bottas struggled on the softest tire.
Mercedes were unable to generate any lap time on the soft tire, which will be used to define the grid on Saturday.
Hamilton's title rival Max Verstappen was second fastest, 0.101 seconds behind team-mate Perez.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen topped a tight and unrepresentative first practice at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix ahead of the Ferrari drivers.
Verstappen, leading Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton by four points in the championship, was 0.043 seconds faster than Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
Carlos Sainz was third quickest, 0.294secs behind his Ferrari team-mate, ahead of Red Bull's Sergio Perez.

Charles Leclerc led a surprise Ferrari one-two in Thursday's practice at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Leclerc topped the second session, 0.112 seconds clear of Carlos Sainz despite missing virtually the entire first session with a gearbox problem.
Sainz was 0.278 seconds quicker than Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, who was 0.007secs quicker than title rival Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas was fifth, from McLaren's Lando Norris.
