The old tube communication receivers are great. The atmospheric lighting, warm sound. Good reception. Yes, I have a weakness for these radios, especially the "boat anchors".

I also use Linux on older machines, even on a Pentium4, 32bits. Mozilla Firefox has become too big, so slow. Satisfied so far. Firefox will probably be replaced by Librewolf here.

The GR-81. A vintage desktop HF receiver. Three-tubes, four-bands, covered 140 Khz to 18 Mhz, AM/CW modulation. The GR-81 had a long production run, from 1961-1972.

The bandplan, introduced in the 20's, was for 81 frequencies on the MW, in 10khz steps. The MW then fell between 550-1350 kHz. The MW was later expanded further.
