@HopelessDemigod there defiantly is, although this is the wrong side of the house from where the conduits/entrance panels to the shack are😀
Phew. Busy day - was getting all the undergrowth and weed stuff cleared out of the front flower gardens. We’re fairly weed tolerant, but it was starting to choke some things out. Now our little Certified Wildlife Habitat sign is clearly visible again😀
Ooof.
Exhibit A (of I don’t what exactly)
Daily net on one of the main repeaters in the county. The daily question was “what celebrity would you want to have as your best friend”
Multiple people answered “Donald Trump”
This is why I prefer all of you here, and the #HamRadio stuff we do and talk about, far above and beyond what goes on locally for the most part.
My spouse and I joke about selling our house, and buying acres somewhere remote, homeschooling our kids, and living in a yurt. Its starting to feel less like a ‘ha ha wouldn’t that be fun’ conversation, and more like a, ‘maybe we should actually do that’ conversation.
Lolz. In my home state of you get #AmateurRadio plates, and have more than one, they add a number ( ie. -2 -3 etc.)
My spouse saw a ham plate on a reasonably expensive car, and it was -4. So I’m like, now I know you have money, and at least 3 other cars than the one you’re driving, and I can look up where they’re parked, and know that you aren’t there…..
The FCC database being public info, holding data of private individuals, is a problem.
I’m starting to get some pretty bad intermittent scratching in my left audio channel on my mixer, when using the mic inputs. It’s an out of production, budget job, so I’m not sure how much troubleshooting I actually want to do. I feel like I might hodge something together, like maybe use an external box I already have to bring my mic to line level and plug in that way, until I can just replace this old beasty, or maybe relegate it to duty in an application where I only need the line level stuff.
Did a drive-by of a couple of our launch sites with the portable AREDN node on the dashboard. Pretty sure we’ll be able to get a decent enough link at 3 of our 4 sites.
Site 1: The farm behind my house. It’s only like 200 meters away and line of site - we’re good to go😀
Site 2: SNR was good enough that I think if I just put the node on my push up mast we’ll have it.
Site 3: Was pretty week, but I think a directional antenna on the push-up will get it.
Site 4: a bit far - write off for now
Ha! Wrote my first blog post in 7 months. It wasn’t the same one I started and didn’t finish, but it’s something I guess 😜
lol - was going to update something on my web site and realized I started writing a post on my ‘new’ mobile install back in January that I never finished. Good thing this is my hobby and not my job😀
@Geojoek @croyle if you go to ME might as well head to Cadillac Mt. to make it count for POTA/SOTA/IOTA all at once😀
@HopelessDemigod I had considered that, and it’s still a possibility, but technically would be out of alignment with the band plan in our area - knowing the folks that run those machines, I’d be surprised if they thumbed their noses at those.
