@dimsumthinking That totally makes sense. Especially since weight loss takes so long (long feedback loops) means we don't easily learn from what does and does not work.

@dimsumthinking Yeah. I learned that one early.

Here's another trick: We talk away those books because we're not talking to the person with the power. In many cases, if we rethink the ideal reader, we can focus on the person with the power and write a BETTER book.

(That does not apply to cookbooks 😆 )

In any male-dominated workplace or industry, the women who do work there will on average be more competent than the men. This is obvious if you understand statistical probability and gender bias.

Just had a sighted person tell me they often use features, clients and programs that were made for us, they don’t use screen readers, but they use accessibility features, even when they do not have disabilities, but also clients like a blind Mastodon client, or a text editor designed with screen readers in mind such as the ones I list on my Tools page at the end, as an example, because they said, the interface is 1000 times cleaner, there’s a lot of keyboard shortcuts, clutter free interface, even though the UI is basic, speed, less bloat, and a whole host of other things including, but not limited to, and never having to put up with distracting animation nonsense. You know software development has vastly sank in quality when sighted folk are using blind clients. @logosity Thanks! 😆 I was sure I had missed something important and was totally out of date. (Which could still be true 🙂

@logosity Now that I know about this, I might be able to use this to figure out how to "fix" all the tags on my site. 30+ years of blogging means not all the tags are correct. Oh well.

I THINK the 1 April tech book Kickstarter is ready to go? Stretch goals and add-ons and everything? It even has an updated image!

I finally found a terrific use for AI: to read the (almost 3000) posts on my blog and help me find the one post I was looking for. It did!

This is what I mean when AI can help us access the patterns in our (relatively clean) data.

*New* Insight? No. Access what we forgot/did not know we knew? Yes.

ok... huh... I was thinking about the Kurt Lewin paper where he introduces the unfreeze-change-refreeze ideas as a possibility to read for PapersInSystems (because we so seldom read the foundational works)... and ummm the first few sentences are... wut??

there’s also traces of Lewin’s heuristic equation

B = f(p,s)

in there :)
