Went to another #AI (ChatGPT) webinar on AI and education. Unfortunately, I am allergic to Kool-Aide...
@dnorman Thanks D'Arcy!
Looking at "Teaching Squares" this weekend and other alternatives to traditional class observation/mentoring. I am redesigning this for the technical college environment. Let me know if you use this system or have another system that is open, collaborative, affirming, and non-judgemental. #highered #education #teaching
The OER Faculty Institute CFP has been extended to June 16th:

A Single Point #Rubric relies on your discussion of the paper with the student. In three columns, a teacher can express what works, what the goals of the assignment are, and what the student needs to do to grow. #Assessment needs to be collaborative, and Single Point Rubrics are a way for students to take ownership of their learning. #DEI #Highered https://geoffcain.com/blog/single-point-rubrics/
Does anyone have any recommendations for #OER conferences/events that are technical college friendly? Thanks!
Our Teaching & Learning Center at Clover Park Technical College has started a #podcast - we have three episodes up and more on the way. If you work in a community or technical college or are just interested in #teaching and #learning, check out Simon Says: Educate!

@nerd That implies a lot more competency on the part of AT&T than I would give them credit for.
This is some of the most intelligent writing on #AI that I have read. The links that Gardner Campbell provides are as important as anything else he has to say. This article also reminds me of how important @Downes has been to my career in teaching and instructional design the OLDaily https://www.downes.ca/news/OLDaily.htm is a must read. I can find the interesting stuff without having to wade through the commercial junk! https://campustechnology.com/Articles/2023/05/08/Can-Artificial-Intelligence-Expand-Our-Capacity-for-Human-Learning.aspx?Page=1
@Downes The conferences I have been to have all been about "How to Teach with ChatGPT" and they are all touting the miraculous new world ahead. :-) They never ask "should" we do this. I am more interested in open source systems where there is some transparency about what happens with student data, for instance.
Most of the instructional designers I have run into are just ga-ga for #AI - it is refreshing to see someone actually acknowledge a possible down-side to all of this: https://creativecommons.org/2023/05/04/generative-ai-opportunities-concerns-solutions-from-mozfest-2023/
