Looking at "Teaching Squares" this weekend and other alternatives to traditional class observation/mentoring. I am redesigning this for the technical college environment. Let me know if you use this system or have another system that is open, collaborative, affirming, and non-judgemental.

A Single Point relies on your discussion of the paper with the student. In three columns, a teacher can express what works, what the goals of the assignment are, and what the student needs to do to grow. needs to be collaborative, and Single Point Rubrics are a way for students to take ownership of their learning. geoffcain.com/blog/single-poin

This is some of the most intelligent writing on that I have read. The links that Gardner Campbell provides are as important as anything else he has to say. This article also reminds me of how important @Downes has been to my career in teaching and instructional design the OLDaily downes.ca/news/OLDaily.htm is a must read. I can find the interesting stuff without having to wade through the commercial junk! campustechnology.com/Articles/

@Downes The conferences I have been to have all been about "How to Teach with ChatGPT" and they are all touting the miraculous new world ahead. :-) They never ask "should" we do this. I am more interested in open source systems where there is some transparency about what happens with student data, for instance.

Most of the instructional designers I have run into are just ga-ga for - it is refreshing to see someone actually acknowledge a possible down-side to all of this: creativecommons.org/2023/05/04
