I am really enjoying being over here on Mastodon right now. I do wish I could get my hands on @ivory though...miss my tapbots app!
this is incredibly cool. I would love to see Flickr become a proper archive.
@adr @misty I'm still extremely surprised that no one tried minting a library coin of some sort. *sigh*
And I say that as the person who probably gave the most blockchain talks to libraries, full stop. Hell, I just did one the other day for FEDLINK.
Finally seeing some video from the show I'm working on this month. Really just a beautiful bit of theater, and I'm lucky I get to help these actors sound so great.
I'll likely cross-post most things, but if you just want to follow my blog for some reason, it has its own ActivityPub stream now at griffey@jasongriffey.net

@adr wait what?
@siracusa Listening to you and Snell talk about AI art on the latest Upgrade, and I kept waiting for you to say something about how AI training sets are a different copyright/ethical case than Google scraping the web to build search on top of it.
But you didn't, and I'm not sure that it is significantly different.
So: why are AI art training set copyright issues different than the (legal) use by Google of scraping the entire web and building advertising against it?
