A little bit of local excitement for you - my local university (Sewanee) has a Corpse Flower that’s about to bloom, could be any day now. Livestream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0bzkpRukbY
@adr @copystar @redlibrarian @djfiander You're also fighting against 50 years of user experience pushing people farther and farther away from the underlying structures of things like a filesystem. Explaining to someone who's primary computing device throughout their life has been a smartphone how hierarchies of directories work is like, step one of a thousand to get them to understand CLI.
I would expect the rise of chatbots to have helped somewhat in making text a primary interface again tho.

Come work with me!
Attending the OSHWA Summit in Berlin today, very excited to learn about the amazing projects from the Open Hardware community. If anyone wants to talk Open Science Hardware, come find me to chat. #ohs2026
What was supposed to be a simple BNA-JFK-BER trip has become an insane BNA-SLC-AMS-BER journey. Added 12 hours to the trip, but at least I’m getting there.
@adr Thanks friend! Last August I had about 20% of my right kidney removed and it scooped all the cancer with it. If you're going to have kidney cancer, I had the best kind. :-P
@adr Did you know that the average person in the world has more than two kidneys? When docs do a kidney transplant, they don't remove the old one and just shove it to the side, so anyone with a transplant ends up with 3.
The world record for transplants is SEVEN, so there's a dude in the netherlands walking around with 7 right now.

I am so thrilled to be bringing someone new to the OSHF team. Very excited to hire a Program Manager, and if you think it should be you, take a look and apply!
@adr I love your watch obsession. I basically just wear my Apple Watch, but i have had a decades-long obsession with the wildly impractical but amazing watches at TokyoFlash: https://tokyoflash.com/collections/watches
They are basically wearable sci-fi props.
If anyone out there is running a Meshtastic node, here's a QR for my channel. I'm testing a new install, trying to decide whether to add another node somewhere in my area to expand the mesh. If you can see this, say hello....
@adr pro tip: i use an app called QuickScan on my phone and the Tailscale network to dump anything I scan with phone directly to my paperless install. I’m sure there are other similar apps.
