日本伝統の芸術の「折紙」は、その時々、必要に合わせて形や働きを柔らかく変える新しい人工物を実現する鍵として着目されています。また、DNAやタンパク質の折り畳み、昆虫の翅、脳の皴、植物の葉や花など、自然界に遍在し複合的な機能を生み出す背後には「折り」の原理が存在します。本シンポジウム「折紙がつなぐ芸術・科学・産業」では、「折紙」を媒介として自然に遍在する折紙の科学と折紙を遍在させる工学の学術コミュニティの発展を促進します。
