Playing PlinkoNim against my #DataStructures class. This game was the topic of a talk at #Sprouts2023
Congratulations to BlobBuilder, written by @emptygame , the 2023 Computer World Champion of Flag Coloring (http://kyleburke.info/DB/combGames/flagColoring.html). BlobBuilder won the AI tournament at #Sprouts2023 and will face off against Dr. Matt Eicholtz (human champion) in our John Henry match. (We had to postpone this because I didn't get the site ready beforehand.) The date of that match is To Be Determined. Great job Ian, for coding up BlobBuilder!
Sprouts was amazing today! We had great talks, a great tournament, and overall just a great time. Thanks to all of our brave and talented speakers. Of our six young academics, one was a high schooler and two are first-year college students! Thanks to Melissa for an excellent keynote address. And thanks to Craig for running things smoothly.
My summaries of the talks are here: https://combinatorialgametheory.blogspot.com/2023/04/sprouts-2023-talks.html
#Sprouts2023 was a success and I'm already looking forward to next year.
Notebooks for in-person attendees are looking great! #Sprouts2023 #CombinatorialGames
I am so lucky that we have a good schedule for Sprouts on Saturday! Here's the agenda: http://kyleburke.info/sprouts/sprouts2023/#agenda If you're interested in attending any part of it, follow the registration instructions on the above page. (It's free!)
We also got our first Flag Coloring computer player submission! I'm expecting one more, so we should have an actual competition!
#Sprouts2023 update: We currently have 4 talks + our keynote (http://kyleburke.info/sprouts/sprouts2023/index.php) and a little bird has told me to expect two more talk proposals today. Thanks to everyone for sending in their proposals!
We should be nailing down the times for the tournaments soon! #CombinatorialGames
I just fixed a critical error in the software for the tournament for #Sprouts2023. I definitely did the thing where I was developing in production. ... because I like to live dangerously.
If you were testing out Flag Coloring over the past hour or so and it was running slowly, that's why. Just give that page (http://kyleburke.info/sprouts/sprouts2023/flagColoringComputerTournament.php) a hard refresh. Remember that players are due tomorrow (Thursday) night!
