I updated #PaintCan, because I realized some of the stacks it was creating were not very interesting: namely stacks that have a gray brick on the bottom are equal to zero. Those should be excluded now if you try and play: http://kyleburke.info/DB/combGames/paintCan.html (If you are still getting those, you might need to do a "hard" refresh (hold Shift + click refresh) for your browser to go grab the new JavaScript.)
Playing #PaintCan against my #DataStructures students. It's their turn, as Red. They have a winning move! #CombinatorialGames
Thank you to @GullumLuvl who noticed that my Python-To-Java tutorial was broken. I've fixed it!
He also gave me a bunch of comments that I used to improve things. Thank you!!!!
Here's the tutorial. (It is designed for students who have had a semester of Python already.) http://kyleburke.info/pythonToJavaTutorial/start.php
Two of my papers recently got submitted (kyleburke.info/?main=research) so I now have some #CombinatorialGames I implemented that I can share.
The first of these is Paint Can: http://kyleburke.info/DB/combGames/paintCan.html. This game has stacks of bricks: blue, red, green, and gray. A player can either take a green brick or a brick of their color (Red or Blue). (Neither player can choose gray bricks.) When they remove a brick, that also removes all bricks above that one. Any pile that has non-green bricks also has a paint can on top of it. When any brick is removed, the can spills and all the remaining bricks in that stack become green.
#PaintCanGame is novel because each component has very low stakes (all options are to nimbers or zero) but the game is still complicated (NP-hard) to play optimally.
Lost a #magicthegathering duel against a kid tonight using Brothers' War Jumpstart packs.
God grant you on this Leap Day fair,

Important note for #Gamesters planning to watch the new Netflix move #Nimona (https://www.netflix.com/title/81444554):
No games of #Nim are played during the movie! I hope this important note correctly sets your expectations.
If you don't have Netflix, Nimona is apparently free on YouTube for a limited time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4CFWTYFRlw
