I have been trying to convince my local municipal government of this for years. “You really want to redevelop that waterfront, zero elevation property built over a filled in estuary? With climate change, sea level rise, extreme rainfall events (and a Tsunami zone)…. How sure are you the developer is going to be able to get insurance? Who will be left holding the bag after the first disaster, the second, the third in a span of 20 years?

Getting revved to finally do it. I’m gonna delete my twitter accounts! I have a few for different purposes, organizations, and alter-egos so it’s going to be a process. But also fun! I’m excited to bring them all here. I don’t know why it has taken this long. I think I was secretly hoping I could convince myself to go back because there are so many folks there I will still miss, but I can’t. It’s time to complete the move and retire those spaces so they can live and thrive here on the Fediverse!

@msquebanh absolutely screaming obvious. And include the media too. Just saw a sad story in a local paper about a senior who was missing down in Victoria and has perished…. Yet we basically never ever hear about multiple indigenous, or poor, or youth missing and dead. Racist, ageist, ableist, classist, media coverage to placate a population it mirrors.

@DrSuzanne yep I haven’t watched the series in a long time either. Good for a laugh I bet, and reminder of the myriad of tv culture touchstones provided by that one series. Quite something. We are a weird species. 😂
