Musician: someone who puts £5000 worth of gear into a £500 car to drive 100 miles to a £50 gig
“The terms indicate that people participating in the program won’t hold Telegram liable for any damages and give the company absolute indemnity from all claims related to peer-to-peer login”

Do we have a 3 Body Problem?
”AT Protocol will be able to support other kinds of apps, and then users will be able to move between them with the same identity and relationships, and then that will just make it a lot easier for other people to build. And so that was part of our idea was just build an app, and then we get this positive feedback loop going of developers and users coming into the ecosystem.”
”Dataminr pays for privileged access to X through the company’s “firehose”: a direct, unfiltered feed of every single piece of user content ever shared publicly to the platform.
…the company essentially leases indirect access to this massive spray of information, with Dataminr acting as an intermediary between X’s servers and a multitude of police, intelligence, and military agencies.”

”Personal data custody, or Personal Custody, means that the information (images, metadata and derived data) generated at the orb and used to generate the iris code during World ID verification is held on your device. This approach gives you control over the flow of this data—not just deletion, but any future use prior to being deleted.”

... and suddenly the most followed fediverse accounts are quite different.
How to talk about the #fediverse so people can understand why it might have value to them.
(Skip the term "marketing" if you don't like it. The conversation is still very interesting)

Mastodon users are the most active based on my posting responses.
10x less followers than in X.
The rest are relatively inert, listed in descending order:
Nostr
X
Bluesky
Threads
Loops will be limited to Android and iOS, with the exception of video links which will have web previews.
I don't have the bandwidth to support web, and this enables us to build much richer experiences like AR Filters!
@John If you read Isaacson’s book about Musk it reveals incidents where Musk tweeted about something that happened to him but the rest could not have had any context at the time.
Here’s an example: https://getairchat.com/s/S7n0TO1E
@John Might be targeted to Bezos etc who have legacy newspapers

@spaceship The very definition of legacy social
Kicking third-party devs out of the API, blocking outbound links & seeing content without logging in seem to have consequences
I don't know who needs to hear this but #TruthSocial, which is running a forked version of Mastodon, does not from the source code appear to have appropriate mitigations in place for CVE-2023-36460, which theoretically allows attackers to create and overwrite any file Mastodon has access to, allowing Denial of Service and arbitrary Remote Code Execution https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-36460 (probably other CVE's as well, but some rely on federation which Truth Social doesn't use?) #infosec
