8-year-old grandson this week, learning to read, practicing aloud with the nativity story in the King James Version of the Bible.
Grandson: "…the angel Gabriel was sent from God … to a vegan espoused to a man whose name was Joseph …and the vegan's name was Mary"
I'm sure there's a good, age-appropriate way to explain the difference between vegan and virgin, to an 8-year-old… 🤭
This week: @johnnydecimal task management meets plain text, plus early thoughts on the new Obsidian iOS widget feature and its limitations.
"…for people with brains like mine that simply cannot cope with locking away tasks in a non-portable …format, plain text tasks can be a valid solution. Feel free to try and change my mind. I don't think you'll be able to, but I'm willing to hear you out."

Commit to posting mostly or only positive things on your favored social media site for a while.
After the best part of 2 years appending to my #OBTF, I've finally got my head around prepending. And I think it's my #PlainTextPlanner that's helped my neurons accept that this is a good move.
Working with the brain cell pathways, not trying to force them into what I'm told is the 'right' path, has taught me more about productivity than pretty much anything else.
Last week I found a 100ml bottle of one of my favourite Herbin #fountainPen #ink colours (Poussière de Lune, or moon dust) for only a little more than the glass bottled 30ml version!

I've just turned off the web viewer in #Obsidian. I know you can ⌘-click links to open in an external browser, but I kept forgetting to do that—and regularly got annoyed when full website functionality wasn't available.
I'm happy to keep my notes app and browser separate.
Switching my setup again. Less Apple, more #obsidian
This week I take a brief look at how my plain text productivity system has evolved this year. Also, my comments on some of @RussSharek 's plain text lifestyle thoughts.
> Having a simple interface to my world is a bit of zen meditation for me, and it helps keep me focused on my creative goals. —Russ

I was brought up a sports bigot. My Dad, rest his soul, forbade us to talk during the news, until the #sports segment was on. Then he turned down the set and we could talk until it was time for the weather!
Both verbally and nonverbally, Dad taught us that people who play sport are less intelligent than the rest of us! Exhibit A: rugby players/boxers with their thick necks and battered noses.
It took decades for me to realise I had some mental unpicking to do! #parenting
Scary and sad!! This is a short drive from me. I know people who have had to evacuate. I am so not evacuation-ready —this must change
This week someone gave a fridge to my son and his wife, allowing them to give their own small fridge to someone who really needs one exactly that size.
This morning a friend of a friend gave their now replaced assist-a-lift chair to another friend who was in desperate need of a chair just like this!
I love it when people look around for people they can help rather than always trying to make a buck.
