"forgetting is as important as remembering"
if your second brain gives you a perfect memory, then you'll have a hard time paying attention to the present or the future and will instead be tempted to wallow in the amply documented memories of the past.
if you look for #hyperthymesia you find what happens to people when they do this without the aid of computers; the "second brain" idea feels like a computer-assisted approximation of this.
the classic fictional take on this is Borges, "Funes the Memorious" (1942), preserved in various anthologies, a scan of one of them is here
"In the teeming world of Funes, there were only details, almost immediate in their presence".
edit: spelling
Some cheap fountain pens are surprisingly nice to write with. This is the Hongdian Black Forest extra fine. Matte black body and nib.
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, fountain pen friendly paper was all there was.
Moleskine Cahier, my recent ink pen renaissance is sorely testing our relationship. Smarten up, please! What were you thinking, making a classic book with newsprint quality paper??

I have adequate vision (well except some mild presbyopia) and I still _love_ the alt text that is very widely posted on mastodon. Because I come across images all the time that even though I can see it I don’t immediately recognize what it is, or what is significant about it.
In short: My eyes work fine but good alt text helps me see the image through the poster’s eyes.
Life is so much more fun now that I've learned to welcome change for the sake of change.
No more self-recrimination over abandoning notebooks, apps, systems, or methods. Or furniture arrangements.
I draw up my planners (month and week spreads) by hand, and love that I can do it a quarter at a time. That means a new layout if I want it, every 12 weeks!
If this sounds suspiciously like an #ADHD brain to you, please send a cheque so I can make it official 🤭
Started a YouTube channel. No jump cuts. No background music. No dopamine slot-machine thumbnails. Just ideas I think are worth hearing, said clearly, once.
If that sounds like something you’re craving, I’d love to have you there.
