Really cool differences between seismographs in Troy, NY and Long Island, NY. Fun to see the longer delay between P and S waves in the more distal site at Troy. I imagine the fact Troy is on bedrock and LI is not also plays a role in the different P wave characteristics between both sites.

Any or folks know what this might be? We accidentally caught the poor guy when we were taking a grab sample of local pond water to run for heavy metal analysis.

Snowed in today so I finally took the time to update my Central Park plots with data from 2023.

Nothing too dramatic but the high rainfall totals have risen the Hudson River @ Troy to minor flood levels. Usually a 10 ft drop from the concrete to the water, enough for a dock and boats to moor. The flow is approximately at peak so it looks like the park and walkway will be spared. Certainly not a usual site in mid December!

Shameless self plug incoming.
I’ll be presenting poster PP33E-1564 “Natural Climate Variability Modulates Coral-Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperature and Salinity in the Central Red Sea” at this afternoon.
Stop on by if you are interested in paleoclimate, corals, and/or North Atlantic climate teleconnections. Or stop by just to say hi. Always love meeting fellow Sciencedons!
