Watched the 1984 Romanian animated movie Delta Space Mission at my local indie theater. Huge Space Adventure Cobra vibes, maybe the result of mutual Moebius influence? Cobra movie came out two years earlier. This thing is super cool.
Toontown in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT is probably cinema's most successful representation of cosmic horror.
It's a realm of neverending chaos where physics has no rules, everyone and everything rejoices in violent madness, and nothing from there can age or die. A cheerful non-Euclidean nightmare where the buildings and the shadows and the sun itself are all awake and aware and insane.

another important February shout out—to Frank Braxton, widely considered to be the first Black #animator in Hollywood, who was also the former president of the Screen Cartoonist's Guild (now called The Animation Guild)!
Frank's career paved the way for other Black animation workers like Floyd Norman, who called him "our Jackie Robinson." #BlackHistory
If you're in any way familiar with Jim Korkis you'll also be familiar with his excellent writings on all things #Disney and more that we would be very much poorer without.
Per Didier Ghez (http://disneybooks.blogspot.com/2023/01/note-from-jim-korkis-brother-jim-korkis.html), Jim's brother is reporting that Jim is currently in the hospital and will likely need open heart surgery in the next few days.
Here's hoping he pulls though and has a speedy recovery.
It's been a long time, sorry. So, few gouache paintings I did lately.
Happy St Brigid's Day!
I've had a story brewing around #SaintBrigid for a long time now, think I'll begin full on development of it once my current projects are wrapped up! Until then, enjoy this sketch and have a great first day of Spring!

Animation is not rocket science (it's harder). Although this loop was not too complicated to make. 😀
Still fun though!

Facial expression practice! I think her character mode is not super consistent between attempts, but the expressions themselves were quite fun!
Time for a walk! We've been having a cold winter, and Basil still needs his four a day outings. ❄️ He's high maintenance. :) #kidlit #kidlitart #illustration #art #artist #artistsonmastodon #bookodon #picturebookart #childrensbookart #childrensbookillustration #asianamericanartist #dog #dogs #Dogowner
Someone please tell me why I can watch #anime on my fridge?! Like I already watch too much as is, and now you’re telling me I can watch Cardcaptor Sakura while I’m getting a glass of milk?! What a time to be alive :blobcatanime:
