Flames and black smoke billowed out of the windows of two flats on the ninth and 10th floors of a 13-storey tower block in Catford.
Approximately 70 firefighters, 10 fire engines and several ambulance crews were sent to Rosenthal House, a block of 40 flats built in 1969, shortly before 1pm.
Fire crews from Forest Hill, Greenwich, Deptford, Lee Green and other stations were dispatched to the scene.

This is because we have to provide links back to the original tweet which we can no longer promote. The deliberate promotion of disinformation and incitement to attack parts of our community by its owner makes it incompatible with our mission.
Regrettably Twitter/X was the source of the majority of news and views here. Hence it leaves a deep hole in local news no other platform can replace.

Local boy Alex Yee wins gold. We like to think that hill training on The Horniman Heights gave him the wherewithal for that last yeet.

Walking along Honor Oak Park in south east London, I discovered One Tree Hill isn't just a noughties American TV series (wow!) but an actual hill with allotments, a cemetery, etc. I didn't have time to explore it, but I know for next time I'm in the area.

Amusingly she came out and yelled βWhy are you taking pictures of my carβ. Perhaps because @YPLAC and people have to step onto the South Circular to get around it?
