30mm of rain tonight! I’ll have to see if we set a record at the airport, who likely got more than my station. I can’t imagine it isn’t a record for a July 11! Certainly the most for many years!

Just added the ATmosphere plugin on the blog @alberniweatherblog so it posts into Bluesky natively.
Posts will still also be shared through its Fediverse account and through here and bridged to Bluesky so nothing is changing there.
Hooray #socialweb!
If you run your own Wordpress blog and haven’t installed the ActivityPub and ATmosphere plugins to be a full part of the social web, now’s the time!

New wildfire near the end of Cypress Boulevard and Batty Rd in Cherry Creek is now “Being Held” at 0.3ha

Very smoky smell in Nanaimo this morning and noticeable haze in the air. Doesn't seem to be from any local fires, so perhaps it is being drawn from fires in Washington state? Unclear.
Summer has begun a few days early, I guess. :(
sheesh... 36.0º C was the high at Alberniweather today. Ya... it felt that hot!

1/2 ENSO Discussion this morning:
"Collectively, the coupled ocean-atmosphere system reflected the onset of El Niño conditions.”
"The North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) average... forecasts El Niño to intensify into the Northern Hemisphere winter 2026-27. High confidence in El Niño is also linked to anomalously high oceanic heat content and expanding westerly wind anomalies across the equatorial Pacific Ocean.
