Electric vehicles are not the answer.

If Americans continue to depend on cars at the current rate, by 2050 the US alone would need triple the lithium currently produced for the entire global market, with dire consequences for water, food supplies, biodiversity, and Indigenous rights.

We need a transition away from car dependency and towards greater use of walking, biking and public transport.

Building a second outerbelt is exactly the wrong thing to do. It won't solve the problem - it will just generate more traffic, making the problem worse. The only way to reduce traffic is to provide alternatives to driving. Period.
