If you're near Guelph, come visit the love Your Bike fest. It's great ;)

Just wanted to post a followup on my switch to linux - It's going great.
I'm on Manjaro having switched from a mature installation of Win10, where most of the rough edges had been rubbed off. But both the kids have newer Win11 installations and I hate them.
I'm not going to miss the Win11 popups with two buttons: "Do what we want you to do" and "Ask again later"
I've been dual booting win10/manjaro for a bit now but games were one of the things I switched back to windows for. Unnecessarily, it turns out. Lutris is a big help.
I'm trying to clean up, but I'm the worst at it. Of course I want to keep this light bulb box that says "happy Birthday Dad" at the bottom of it!
Back to my makerspace after a few months of being sick and miserable and it's doing fucking great. Someone just found me a piece of bright pink acrylic from the scrap pile to laser into a camera mount.
Did some forest canoeing yesterday, but posting today because apparently cell services aren't optimized for the middle of flooded islands.
I love hearing the frogs singing. Windows open season....
Still love libraries, FYI.
The fact I can hang out here while my kids are swimming is just a bonus.
They're not swimming today. I just biked down here on my own.
Linux usb wifi drivers are kind of a nightmare so I bought a wifi-ethernet bridge and I'm super happy with it.
I feel like this old Moto Z phone deserves a Viking funeral or something. Chugging along since 2016? When I put a sim card in it last year I had to call and get it unlocked, and it took a bit until I got a rep who remembered how that worked because carrier locked phones haven't been a thing since Jan 2017.
Thinking about scars today, and how I got them.
I did a multi day backwoods hike called the Gros Morne Long Range Traverse, in Newfoundland. You have to take a safety course and they check your gear to make sure they don't have to waste a helicopter trip for your sorry ass. It was a beautiful but grueling hike across difficult and dangerous terrain. It was extremely challenging.
And then, after that, I cut the shit out of my hand putting my backpack into the trunk of the rental car.
