TIL the original #Twister was re-released in 4K HDR with a new Dolby Atmos audio mix 10 days ago. Totally worth it!

If you have a Dolby Cinema screen in your area, go see #TwistersMovie there NOT at IMAX. It wasn't shot in IMAX so they have to remaster it for their screens, losing detail and introducing artifacts. Plus most IMAX screens are NOT 4K HDR so the visual quality doesn't approach what Dolby can achieve.

I'm currently staged in North Platte, NE in a boom-or-bust environment primed with strong instability and low level shear. Large hail and tornadoes possible if an isolated supercell can punch thru the stable layer and stay rooted in the rich moisture.

I decided not to chase today. I'm not keen on chasing Oklahoma and the south Kansas setup is conditioned on how things play out in OK which itself is conditioned on how things play out in TX. I've seen too many of these setups go bust from left splits and anvil shields and outflow from southern storms.

On Wednesday, May 1, this supercell west of Utica, KS was like a giant vacuum cleaner in the sky, sucking up dirt and tumbleweeds for miles around. I have a feeling we're going to see many more of these roaming the plains soon!
