@Mayana I understand and appreciate that position, but I'm still very interested to listen and at least think about possible approaches/solutions so that that awareness can help inform my future work.
My next game is something that I'm hopeful will be playable by non-sighted players, so I'm keen to learn and discover as much as I can along the way.

@greypilgrim I'm more or less adhering to semantic versioning guidelines already. The problem was that past past me wasn't.
So for all that praise I was giving past me yesterday, it turns out that past past me set up Hive Time's version check infrastructure with the assumption that patches would increment minor version numbers and big updates would increment major version numbers, while past me only used build numbers for patches and figured that major version numbers should only be incremented for compat breaking changes. As a result, 1.0 builds won't display an update notice for yesterday's v1.1 release \o/
