@ajroach42 Good Onens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman)
@ak I spent some time outside too but the upper deck was closed because of some Irish coast guard exercise and the lower deck was full of smokers. Then I finally found the quiet lounge without TV! Will seek that out first thing on the way back.
Esperantist at conlangers fan meet plugging Esperanto. There's one in every gathering.
NetHack people will know who I am without the ridiculous hat, but it's still a pity.
I lost my ridiculous hat! Probably on the Holyhead-Dublin ferry because I wore it for a while and then put it in my pocket. Or outside the pocket.
Also, I didn't only leave the rainbow IDIC pins at home, but also all the amber jewellery that I was going to wear with my velvet dress.
Dear phone battery, don't die on me now at Worldcon pretty please?
I love this phone. I don't want to have to buy a new one just because the battery doesn't hold a charge any more and can't be replaced. (Going to ask the friendly Turk in the phone shop around the corner when I get home, hoping he can replace the battery)
@ajroach42 all your tapes that aren't Queen's Greatest Hits already will turn into it anyway if you leave them in the car long enough.
Phew I'm in. Met Heather Rose Jones almost right away which took care of mt "I don't belong here" anxiety but I still need to sit and decompress for a bit. (Foxes Rock red ale is excellent)
Trying to explain fantasy to B&B man.
Me: dragons and magic and witches and stuff
Him: Oh, like Harry Potter?
Me: Exactly!
Also Stena texted me to say that my ferry is on time and to check in half an hour before sailing. That's 8:25 and I'm now waiting for my Full Welsh Breakfast to be ready, at 7:07, so I think it will be easy. (Half a mile to the ferry. Everything in Holyhead is half a mile from each other.)
Made my already phenomenally heavy suitcase even heavier by putting my laptop in. On the upside me backpack is now comfortable convention weight, no longer travel weight.
I can smell breakfast!
@nev Or even a couple of paragraphs of text.
@Squiddy I've used Linux forever but never thought that was like being trans (though it has occurred to me that it's like being queer)
This is wonderful stuff on a long train journey. Sweet but not overly so, very fruity.
Met a cat on the way to my digs but it was already too dark to safely approach it.
@ak I probably won't be going to England after Brexit anyway :-(
Virgin Trains is giving me (and any other first class passengers who want some) endless cups of very decent tea.
This (at UK border at Harwich) is positively creepy. There were more but I didn't dare photograph those as well because that would probably have been "unusual interest in security".
