Christianity, antisemitism, Bible interpretation

Something that doesn't get addressed enough is that by the time the Jesus stories got compiled into the Bible we all recognize, he had been dead several hundred years and Christianity had been fully co-opted as the state religion of Rome.

The first council of Nicea (which among other things is credited with creating the Nicene Creed (the official 'what Christians believe) was the first of the big Christian councils.

In the spirit of "I have Christianity-trauma and major holidays suck," I have decided to share my pain.

Specifically, my book MOST LIKELY to piss the average Christian off is on sale this week for 25% off.

Because sometimes it's fun to be petty like that.

Starting later today and running through Saturday, Safer Sex for the Non-Monogamous (ebook version) is on sale for $3.75 USD in as many places as I can manage.

Emergency Prep 101: Go-Bags

It is spring, which means it's a good time to update emergency supplies before summer rolls in.

I consider myself a small-scale prepper. By this, I mean that I am not interested in preparing for 'the end of the world as we know it' (TEOTWAWKI) or stocking up on weapons for the 'inevitable civil war.'

But I absolutely am interested in having enough emergency supplies laid in for 'predictable emergencies' (plus a bit).

I don't have the spoons to confirm this, but it looks like Bandcamp United (unionizing workers) are asking folks to buy music on Bandcamp Friday (that's today) and email the CEO

Hey all!

I'm more-or-less back on my feet, which is good because today is the day!

From now through Sept 30 my writing is 'officially' my day job. Y'all have been hugely supportive in the run up and planning for this, and I hope you'll stick with me through it all.

It's going to be an interesting ride.

Hey y'all!

I'm back.

Doing better.

I once again encourage anyone with mental/emotional problems in the US to look in 'crisis residence' as part of your support system. They are everywhere, they will take you if you are homeless, just out of prison or the hospital, and (at least some of them) without insurance.

Or if you are just having a really really bad week and need to get away before you have a breakdown.

Wonderful wonderful place. Mostly good people. Lots help.

Realized that until the recent Smash sale I never really talked about my older books and stories.

Her Broken Dragon was one of my first stories published as an ebook. It's explicitly kinky and written for a friend who was struggling with how his disability was interfering with his relationship.

Her Broken Dragon is available on most major etailers for 99c.

(I really need to update that cover, but I still love the story.)

I'm finally getting my new bullet journal set up properly, which means.

Still have a lot of feels about how hard it can be to find Bullet Journal info that isn't more art journal than bullet journal. ('Minimal' doesn't mean a dozen colored pens, a ruler, and three kinds of washi tape.)

If you've ever wondered what a real 'minimal' bullet journal looks like, have a link:

What Is Harm?

I was drafting a ‘Teshuva procedure’ (the Jewish version of a ) for my synagogue when I ran into a small problem. How could I define the situations the procedure was designed to address and the types it wasn’t. Easy to say ‘harm and harassment,’ but what is harm?

For all the discourse around harm reduction, restorative justice, etc., I realized that I’ve never seen anyone talking about this important question.

What is harm?
